Weekend - would you go

Will he or won't he ?

Well, I am hoping that he will drop in on us here, or we will have to blow the cobwebs off our R36 and go and get him!

Actually, at this end, the wind is currently really nice, and it will be swinging round to very gentle southerlies soon so he will be beating afterall - I would have gone for the F6/7 reach in his boat - what a fab ride they would have had. The forecast today is top of F4 with gusts bottom of F7, so I hope he is on his way.

Incidentally, I rather think letting the crew make the 'suggested' decision, so that if they suggest they go, at least you can fall back on that when they start being sick. The boat and at least two of the crew are certainly appropriate to the conditions expected, but SailFree's SWMBO is pretty tetchy when things get bumpy.

Thanks for the update. We're leaving on Tuesday morning for a week on the boat. I think we might have picked the wrong week.

Did we go

Saturday in Yarmouth.

Sunday went back to Hamble in up to 38kts run - Now that was not forecast!!

Sunday night looked like a weather window with winds decreasing.

Left at 23.00. Motorsailed down the Solent for 2 hrs with 18kts then wind steadily reduced but mostly 10-11kts but also backed to S! Why is it always on the nose!!

Got to Guernsey with having to motorsail the last 6hrs (total 16hrs) very smooth crossing.

Paimpol today tuesday. Been monitoring weather for return trip. What initially looked dodgy fopr next weekend now looks good with depression passing Ireland.
