Been watching it myself for a few days now, the pattern emerging in the Solent area seems to be W6 on Friday, dying down the next morning to a F5, F4 later, W or NW. Then bugger all wind on Sunday, slightly more (F3?) on Monday, but at least the rain is staying oop North where it belongs! ;)

As we're tide limited (although it is the neapiest of neaps) we'll be on the boat on Saturday evening, and out for a sail between the tides on Sunday.

Hoping to cross from Brighton to Cherbourg anytime from Thurs onwards, but its not looking too good. Might end up heading somewhere on Sat, Cherbourg if we can then Ch Islands. It all looks a bit mixed though....

thanks chaps... you confirmed my own forecast. was hoping to head across the puddle friday (may still do if the sea state is okay ) but saturday looks more promising, it also gives an extra hour in bed for the lock at st v :D

I was planning to cross from the Hamble to Cherbourg on Thursday night and then round to St Vaast on Saturday and then back to Portsmouth on Sunday morning. It all looks a bit up in the air at the moment though with Hurricane Bill zooming across the Atlantic, it depends on how that all pans out.

I have got my daughters office staff out for a days jolly on Friday - 7 bouncy girls.... Where on earth can I take them on Friday with west force 6 forecast. No - there is no more room on board for you.....

Hope you have a good crossing......
