WEEKEND WEATHER FORECAST
=========================
Issued: 1100 Thursday 27th April 2006
FRIDAY (see http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/brack0a.gif):
High pressure dominates the weather throughout Friday, being centred to the southwest of Ireland at midday. A weak frontal system will be lying through Scotland, northern and central parts of England.
It looks set to be a rather cloudy day over much of Scotland, northern England, the Midlands and eastern England. A risk of a few patches of rain close to the front, but overall it is likely to be dry.
Elsewhere it will be dry with sunny spells, the best of these through Ireland and southwest England.
Winds will be mainly N'ly 8-12kt (F3-F4).
SATURDAY (see http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/brack1a.gif):
High pressure remains through Saturday. Low pressure over Denmark is presenting a few problems though. This will be pushing westwards with pressure falling over eastern coasts of the country and it is hard to predict exactly how far west rain will push on Saturday afternoon.
At present all parts of the country are likely to be dry in the morning. There will be good spells of sunshine and well broken cloud to the west, especially Ireland and western Wales. More eastern parts of England and Scotland will find the cloud increasing and outbreaks of rain spreading from the east. This rain will edge westwards in the afternoon, although I am reluctant to bring this much further west than Cambridge by dark.
Winds N-NNW 8-12kt (F3) but 15kt (F4) in the east.
SUNDAY (see http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/brack2a.gif):
The area of low pressure is probably going to be just north of the Low Countries on Sunday. An occluded front, associated with the low will be pushing westwards, probably through eastern England in the afternoon. A warm front will be moving into the west of Scotland and western Ireland in the afternoon.
For much of eastern England, probably east of Birmingham the morning will be cloudy with outbreaks of rain. Most of these will be light but a few heavier ones are possible on the coasts. For most of central and eastern Scotland, northwest England, Wales and southwest England it should be drier with bright spells and broken cloud.
Over western Ireland and western Scotland it will be cloudy with periods of rain moving in later, although I suspect that much of the day may be dry.
Winds will be SW 8-12kt (F3) over Scotland and Ireland, NW 7-10kt (F3) for much of central and eastern England.
MONDAY (see http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/brack3a.gif):
Low pressure slipping close to Kent on Monday morning with the occluded front over southern England and Wales by then. A further series of front trying to make eastwards progress to western Scotland and Ireland.
A wet day seems likely over East Anglia, parts of the Midlands and southeast England. There will be periods of rain and a few of these could be heavy at times. Drier conditions for western Wales and northern England as well as parts of eastern and southern Scotland. Over Ireland conditions will be cloudier with some rain.
Note that confidence is low for Monday and this forecast may well change.
Winds will be mainly N-NW 9-14kt (F3-F4).
