WEEKEND SAILING
Issued: 12pm Thursday 11th November 2004

FRIDAY
A cold front moving southwards through England, Wales and Ireland on Friday. The front clearing southern coasts early on Friday afternoon. An unsettled, brisk northwest flow will be following the front with showery troughs moving into Ireland.
Outbreaks of showery rain associated with the front will move southwards, most of the rain affecting more eastern areas.
Behind the front conditions will become brighter, although it is going to be windy. There will also be showers and these are likely to be heavy, becoming increasingly wintry over northern and eastern Scotland.
Winds will be mainly W F4-F5 ahead of the front, becoming NW F5 behind it, but F6 along eastern coasts and as high as F7-F8 in northern and eastern Scotland.


SATURDAY
The best day of the weekend. High pressure remains to the west of Ireland through Saturday, with a ridge building eastwards through the British Isles and Ireland. A warm front may move into western Scotland and Northern Ireland during the night.
There may be a few showers affecting East Anglia and southeast England on Saturday morning, and fairly breezy here.
For the rest of the UK and Ireland there will be good spells of sunshine and it should remain fair through the day.
Cloud increasing in western Scotland and western Ireland in the afternoon, making the sunshine hazy.
Winds will be from the N or NW around F5-F6 in the east, but decreasing to nearer F3-F4 from the west. Closer to F3 in Western Ireland.


SUNDAY
Low pressure east of Ireland, with high pressure remaining to the south of Ireland through Sunday. The UK and Ireland will be between the two systems. A warm front passes eastwards across Scotland in the morning, with a broad warm sector then covering Scotland and Ireland as well as northern England in the afternoon.
A cloudy, windy day through Scotland with rain and drizzle here. Most will be in the west, although the east may see cloud breaking in the afternoon with a few bright spells coming through.
Plenty of cloud across Ireland and northern England. A few spots of drizzle in the morning, but the afternoon may become brighter, especially in eastern Ireland and eastern England.For southern England there will be variable cloud, a few bright spells but generally dry conditions. It may be misty at first.
Winds WSW F7-F8 in Scotland, becoming F4 in Ireland ands northern England, nearer F3-F4 in southern England.
