Good morning,
And with some fine weather on the way this weekend, hopefully you will be able to get out there and enjoy it!
I know we haven't even really started summer yet, but I have announced the dates for the autumn Weather Schools. If you've not been to Weather School yet then you have missed a treat. The aim of the Schools is to show you how to make the best use of weather and forecasts and get the most of of your sailing days. Part 1 will be held on Saturday 9th November 2013 with Part 2 on Saturday 16th November 2013. Full details are at www.weatherschool.co.uk.
A new development this week is the new mobile version of Weatherweb. If you use a smartphone to access www.Weatherweb.net you will be automatically diverted to the new site. There's also a dedicated sailing section too. Let me know what you think.
If you would like forecasts by SMS or email then get your free 14-day trial at www.SailingWeather.co.uk This service gives constantly updated forecasts, when and where you need them and covers the UK and Europe.
If you have a friend who would like to receive this forecast by email each week ask them to subscribe by emailing sailingweather-subscribe@weatherweb.net.
Have a great weekend,
Simon
WEEKEND WEATHER FORECAST
===========================
Issued 0800 Thursday 4th July 2013
Saturday:
An area of high pressure will be centred through the south of the UK and Ireland on Saturday. A southwest flow in Scotland and Northern Ireland, whilst a cold front edges into the west of Scotland later.
For most of the country the day is going to be a fine and sunny one. It will be dry with long sunny spells. Afternoon temperatures rising into the mid-20's may allow some gusts to develop, although these will not be excessive. There is the risk of a few mist or fog patches in the Irish Sea, these perhaps touching western coasts and hills, although the risk is considered low.
Increasing cloud for western Scotland and the far northwest of Ireland as the front approaches, bringing some spots of rain here through the afternoon and evening.
Winds variable 5-10kt (F2) in the south, sea breezes developing. Note strong winds along the north French coast, NE 15-20kt (F4-5). For the far north of England, Scotland and Northern Ireland expect SW 15-20kt (F4-F5).
Sunday:
High pressure continues to dominate the weather across the UK and Ireland on Sunday. The high will have drifted a little further north, trapping the front in Scotland, which will become increasingly weak.
A fine day again for most with some good spells of sunshine throughout the day. The risk of some low cloud may shift to eastern coasts, although again this is only a low risk. The chance of some mist and fog patches here too.
The front through Scotland and the far north of Ireland will bring cloud, and the chance of some drizzle on hills. However, this should fade and the cloud break through the day. The possibility of some lower cloud in the far north of England can't be ruled out either.
Winds NE 8-12kt (F3-F4) in the south, 12-15kt (F4) in the Channel, mainly N 5-10kt (F2-F3) in Scotland. Sea breezes developing in the afternoon.
