Hello again,

I have managed to secure some extra places at Weather School (I have booked a bigger room!). So if you would like to come book at http://www.weatherschool.co.uk. This is likely to be the last Weather School presentation of 2009.

Next weeks forecast may be a little delayed. Why? Well I am going to be presenting the local lunchtime show on BBC Radio WM (you can listen to me between 12pm and 2pm, Monday to Friday online at http://www.bbc.co.uk/radiowm) ) so things may get a little hectic (not ‘arf!). Don’t worry, this doesn’t mean a new career for me, just thought it would be nice as having presented forecasts on TV for the past 15-years it would be good to go back to where I started and see how things have changed.

Looks a belter this weekend, and all the forecasts will be updated as usual at http://www.weatherweb.net/uksail.htm

Onto the weekend forecast, and if you know anyone who’d like to receive this email each week just tell them to send a request to join to

Have a good one,
Simon

WEEKEND WEATHER FORECAST
Issued: 1700 Thursday 10th September 2009

SATURDAY:
High pressure is going to be centred over Ireland throughout Saturday. There are some fronts to the north of Scotland and these will be bringing some cloud through the far north of Scotland, Orkney and Shetland.
The northeast flow may bring some morning cloud through East Anglia and along southern counties of England where it is also going to be breezy. Elsewhere a few mist and fog patches to start the morning, but these rapidly clearing leaving a day of clear skies and sunshine.
The cloud in the south is going to be breaking too and this will allow for some good sunny spells to come through the cloud.
Across the far north of Scotland the cloud will produce some outbreaks of drizzle, perhaps with the threat of some more persistent rain around Orkney and Shetland.
Winds will be mainly W 15-20kt (F5) in the far north of Scotland, NE 12-18kt (F4-F5) in southern England, and variable, mainly NE-NW 2-8kt (F2-F3) in between.

SUNDAY:
Some subtle changes taking place on Sunday with high pressure drifting to the west of Scotland. A cold front is going to be passing westwards through England and Wales, as a weakening feature.
The front is likely to bring some cloud to more northern and eastern areas, and perhaps some patchy rain in the far east at first. This is going to be fading and the afternoon will be much brighter.
As the front tracks westwards it is going to be breaking up further and the west of Wales and western England are likely to be enjoying the best of the sunshine.
Winds will be mainly from the N or NE 7-12kt (F3-F4).
