They both work pretty well and are v similar in price. We chose Eber and it has never given a moments worry. I even leave it programmed to warm the boat up for an hour every other day during the winter months.

Lots of people moan about Eber's, but it invariably because they bought a second hand one on e-bay and tried to 'marinise it' to their boat.

We bought new with all the right kit and its been very good. Webasto have a good reputation too so take your pick.

Still have my Eber working ok after 20 years. The only problem I have had is that the glow plug does not like high voltages. Otherwiswe the key to trouble free running seems to have been care in the orignal installation bearing in mind the damp environment ie running the cables so any drips run off before entering the terminal glands, anti rust protection to relay covers etc etc, this would apply to any make of course. When I was looking at boats with a friend who was looking to buy we saw some horrible rusty examples. Perhaps the ratio of Ebers to Webasto is why there are more posts on Eberspachers.

hi, recomend eber as stated here many buy 2nd hand then moan i fitted new one in 05 in our cat no probs can recomend (Colchester Fuel Injection Ltd 01206862049) ask for RAY
(I have no connection with this company) and am aware there are other suppliers around. Just willing to pass on my experience. Recieved ex service, fitting advice and support from Ray. PM me for more info.

I've used both types many times as I'm a lorry driver, and would agree with others that as far as reliability goes there is nothing to choose between them.

Our boat came with a Webasto. Good piece of kit, and havent't had any problems with it. My only comment is that it is sensitive to low voltage and shuts itself down if the voltage goes much below 12V.

Hummph! My Wallas is 23 years old, starts every time and has only had a replacement burner bowl in all that time at an outlay of under £10.00!

Damned good kit IMHO!!!

Not used Webasto (yet !) - Eberspacher in last boat was used once or twice a year and always started on demand - couldn't fault it.

I fitted my own Webo very good, after sales support outstanding (endless advise and "please phone back" from a support company listed in the hand book, not the people I got the heater from).

The main reason I picked Wabo' was that I had come across them in other applications very tough kit that just on pushing out heat when required.
