Been putting this job off for ages so i could put webasto on new boat without hassle of drilling yet another hole.Where is best for exhaust exit.

Somewhere where it won't come in contact with fenders on the inside or outside.

Make sure it doesn't touch anything for the first foot or two as it comes out of the heater. If it does, get some glass insulation cloth and wrap it around the exhaust and attach it with seizing wire. this can also be put somewhere where it's likely to come in contact with anything it shouldn't.

If you take the exhaust fitting and turn it around the other way and offer it up to the hull, the pipe will show you the angle you need to drill the holes cutter at.

Dont forget that insulating a section will 'push' the hot bit further up the pipe.
Ensure that in a locker crew wont just bung in inflamable stuff.
A possibility is a seperate 'box/jacket' to create an air space around the exhaust.
transom is great but sometimes difficult then to get ducting to where you want it.
Coach roof vent is possble with the jacket on a bulk head and a 'proper' vent on the top ( not to be sat on or covered!) Also consider fumes getting back into cockpit/accomodation and fumes/noise getting into my boat when I am alongside!!

On my installation the engineer has covered the pipe with glassfibre roll all the way to the transom exit. I guess this is best practice and certainly looks the job - after all sometimes when the gear has been in use for some time, I reckon it gets hot along much of its length.
This way the outer surface is always cool to the touch.

Don't forget to put a swan kneck in the pipe before it connects with the transom plate - also good practice. And support the pipe along its length with suitable clips and ties.

Some installations exit high on the hull rather than the transom: this may be needed if the run to the transom is longer than recommended - it's a question of exhaust back pressure.

Remember there is some noise associated with the exhaust: having it close to a sleeping position is less favoured !

If you do install a long length of exhaust hose, particularly if it contains a goose neck then fit a condensate drain at the lowest level or you could wind up with it being eaten away from inside. A useful little known accessory for the smaller 22mm exhaust ports on AT2000 range is a 22mm to 24mm adaptor, useful for reducing back pressure in long runs as you can then use larger bore exhaust. If you are doing a self install then make sure you have a Webo agent check and set the CO2 emission in the exhaust, it’s a must to reduce fuel usage, increase glow pin life and reduce decoke intervals. All marine exhausts should be covered (as was Peter's) from the furnace to the skin fitting, the sock and stainless tie wraps to secure it are available as an accessory.

I anticipate many more Qs but zero Ps and Ts. But you never know!

Its a hole ffs. And these things come with a manual. And marinas have lots of exhaust ports to see, see?
