Drifting

Well, I found that some of the deck stuff is immovable and I thought, well, that's just as well. With care you can do it where you can't get it orf. I may be rationalising, but I don't think my old crate will gain in value - so I've spent me money on sails, seagoing kit, tiller-pilot, and so on to help me sail and have fun before I swallow the anchor. I've abandoned maintaining resale value or whatever. Thing is - I went for cream decks cause that's what I wanted - against all the association/designer specs etc. On the mooring and in marinas I feel like Captain Custard but on a bright day under sail, cracking on, it looks as it should and it's both easy on the eye and reminds me of all those cream n maroon things I adored as a fifties child..at least I don't get a tan from the decks......

A pretty place?

July 2011

Best found on a flood tide as the entrance shallows and shifts. Very East Coast.

The place is Ortiguera in Galicia, Nthn Spain. Pilot says drying harbour but it's been dredged, pontooned and spruced. Thing is, nobody seems to know so I counted something like 50+ empty full serviced berths...very Celtic. They like their bagpipes there....
