Just arrived back from E/W Atlantic crossing and have some queries about receiving weather info. I have used Gribs from Saildocs with an Iridium in the past with fair results. This time the Iridium signal was not good enough to make the data call so I listened to Herb which was ok. Couldn't raise France Inter or Monaco Radio, are they still broacsting WX? Would like to have decoded Weatherfax from the SSB but don't have decoder, any free software out there if not what is the best buy? Thank you for any commewnts

do an internet search for jvcomm32 or mscan meteo fax - one is free - I cant remember which

RFI has stopped a couple of years ago, Monaco radio still going strong (there are rumours about a possible reduction to only 2 broadcast channels), though Monaco is only limited to MetareaII while RFI covered the whole Atlantic E/W crossing.

Thanks for that. Both are free for a trial period and they both appear to be ok but which one do I go for?

SEATTY works well with HF connected to the Mik jack on a laptop. Not expensive.
