I used to be in the BBC and as far as I know memories were short when a forecast was made as to accuracy As for current services I use metmarine as it is free and so far has been OK: I know there are others so would welcome any replies names thanks

Weather reports on the radio and television have become useless for sailors. Cold fronts and depressions have been replaced by little suns and animated clouds on the maps. I'm waiting for the moment that they won't show the temperature in degrees, but in in sweaters/Shirts/t-shirts.

Totally agree, if they're going to give a dumbdown forecast for the uninterested majority(and why not) they also NEED to display the synoptic for the interested minority. I suspect that if utility is defined as ((interest+need)*number of people) then the utility of the minority of peoply would outweigh that of the majority.
