After a week or two out of the water during some of the coldest weather recently, have done all the tarting up stuff such as getting hull polished and assorted mending jobs like the "P" bracket saga..
It was during the polish "n" antifoul stage that a mysterious skin fitting came to our notice.
Bit close to the waterline to be ignored.
After various fruitless expeditions under the floorboards and experimenting with pouring water down pipes it became clear that the pipe concerned disappeared somewhere some where into the bowels of the ship reappearing and connected to the pressurised water system. ?????
Ho hum.
Nearly got 15 knots on way back to RCC,mind you that was with no dinghys/liferafts/gennies/bedding/spare clothes or waterproofs/ no enough collapsable seats to seat an army, very little water/fuel and no booze.
My collection of sockets that will fit nothing and a tool box of nothing useful weighting about a ton remained an board simply not having the energy to take it off.
Looking forward to going somewhere.

As for the mysterious pipe, could it be the pressure vent bleed from the hot water tank?

Spot on.
Just could not understand why it exited so close to water line.

Never comfortable when boat is ashore on the blocks.
Also forgot to mention that as boat is up for sale also took off the wifes unread collection of paperbacks, the grandkids toys and a varied collection of water pistols . :)

Another month or so to go yet before ours is back in the water.

Only got the stern drive to refit and some polishing and painting left to do.

Won't be long now.

Watched Tim and Pru boating up there a week or two ago and for few brief moments wondered how much it would cost the get 36ft flybridge up there.
Absolutely stunning.
Looked at the hire boats but a around 2K for what would essentially be 6 days actually moving and youve got to get there and back..... ?

That's why we are taking our own.

Going to cost us about £1k to get the boat there are back. £140 for the 7 day licence. £150 to launch the boat at Inverness Marina as they don't have a slipway.

At that we are still cheaper then hiring for a week and we will get a week on the Caledonian going one way from Inverness to Fort William and then have a week on the West Coast as well on a boat we know inside out.

Fingers crossed for good weather now!

£1K seems to be lot to get it there

But very envious of you doing that on your own boat, have wanted to do that trip since I was a kid. Look forward to the report :encouragement:

£500 each way. It's not that bad really considering the distances involved. It's 430 miles from Burton Waters, Lincoln to Inverness Marina and about 400 back from Oban to Lincoln!

The OH has wanted to do this trip since we bought the boat back in 2008. So we decided to give it a go this year.

We are back in the water now so we can really start planning this years big trip.
