But I have a set of waypoints derived from paper charts. I want to put these in manually by lat and long, not just tap a spot sort of "near-by". Hence the need for proper waypoints and routes.

To drop a waypoint based on lat & long (on iPad)
1. Press magnifying glass (top left of screen)
2. Press Lat/Long (top right of sidebar, which pressing magnifying glass opened)
3. Dial in desired Lat / Long on rotating ‘fruit machine’ wheels
4. Press green ‘show on map’ bar, below Lat/Long wheels
5. This drops a pin, with a bar above it, on chart at desired Lat / Long
6 Press white on blue circle, on right end of the bar.
7. This opens new side bar. Press ‘marker’ in bar
8. Select desired marker icon
9. Press ‘save,’ at top right of side bar.

Or that’s how I did it, when, as my lockdown project, I manually loaded 994 waypoints and associated routes, from an old Furuno MFD8 plotter onto Navionics. Felt easier to do, than to describe! Once loaded onto Navionics, the iPad synched the routes and waypoints, onto a new B&G Zeus, running Navionics, in a matter of seconds. Over the Wi-Fi. When the plotter was upgraded last autumn.

Edit: Just read the very first, 2014 post. Think I may have reinvented the wheel!
