Waverley, South Coast

I was on Waverley last year from Portsmouth to Swanage. We sped down the Solent and completely missed Yarmouth until nearly at Hurst Castle we did a 180 turn and returned to Yarmouth at full pelt. We were just off Yarmouth pier doing about 5 knots when the paddle wheels reversed and we gently glided into the pier. Supreme seamanship. Just glad I wasn’t the skipper.

They have little faith in reproducing that stunt, they have hired River Yar boatyard to push them onto the pier with a RIB. Saw it in action yesterday.

Twas most enjoyable watching her slide past Cowes yesterday with a howling tail wind as she past a lone forty footer bashing westwards.

Great trip from Yarmouth yesterday but trip to Lulworth curtailed at St Albans head because of gunnery activity. Surely they would have known about that? Lovely vessel and all landings were very smoothly handled.

But they did treat us to a helicopter pass by followed by lowering a crew member on board and then coming back later to winch them off again.
I don't know how the algorithm does it, but after reading this thread last night, I found in my YouTube prompts this morning, the video below, showing great footage of the very events you describe. Odd music...I muted it.

Hope they are able to maintain the quality and output of the fish and chips while they are down there.
We did a trip from Oban to Armadale then to Inverie and back last year passing Eigg on the wrong side, it was a 'take your grannie for free deal' so I took the wife.

I regularly pass her on the Clyde, but will give her a wide berth in future after reading these comments...
