You don't have ferries down your way then?....
But I doubt any skipper would go slower and use a thruster to steer instead of the rudder.

Given the choice of the Waverley or any of the dire, sad, undermanned and overworked coasters with six knackered Russians on board around our coasts, I’ll go for the Waverley. All she has done, in 45 years of operations, is clout a few piers and run aground once or twice. I’d call that a pretty good record.

A good write up. The Waverly was still tied up at Brodick pier this morning. I fear after the investigation this will be the last time she sails into a dead end pier with no escape route.Here’s a report from someone who was on board;
What now for Waverley? - CRSC : Clyde River Steamer Club
If it's not booked, of course, though nothing with AIS on has gone in there. Waverley is still in Brodick and my money is still on the dry dock in Troon.Glen Sannox back in Port Glasgow but with her bow to the west, presumably with her nose job complete. So Garvel dock is available.
Perhaps they reckon there's no point in paying for short notice work since her season was due to end this week anyway, and they'll just straighten out her conk when she is in for her annual dry docking over the winter.She's now parked in Weegieland under the Science Centre Tower.
Is the tower still intact??She's now parked in Weegieland under the Science Centre Tower.
Was it ever?Is the tower still intact??
I actually managed to go up it a few years ago, on one of the days it was open. After we had been up for about ten minutes we were hastily ushered out and it was closed again, because a body had been found floating in the basin next to it.Was it ever?
The dent on Waverley will buff right out.. scroll down to 1936 to see a real dent WAHINE 1913 - The New Zealand Maritime Record - NZNMM
HMS Reclaim. That was a good few years ago. Who was the CO? Ken Kempsell by any chance?Quite a few including this one. The last triple expansion reciprocating steam turbine in the Navy, oh and the last vessel classed as a warship to have sails. View attachment 98567
