I'll confess right off that I rather like Alan 'Rover' Mulholland and I like what he's done to his boat and with his boat. Works for him. So it was with some interest I turned to this video of his, to see what I could learn from him.

After about seven minutes I thought to leave a comment, as one does, but when I found I'd typed four paragraphs I though better of the idea and decided to invite you guys for your thoughts....

I like Alan, and who am I to am I to comment but I was a little concerned that his home made harness might under tension ride up around his neck and potentially strangle him or at the very least possibly restrict him. The nice thing about solo sailors is we make out own choices and the only people to blame are ourselves but I do find asking others opinions and learning from others who have "done it" is a good way to prepare and avoid bad decisions.

I have to admit I stopped watching the last bit of his trip home as I couldn't bare another slow 360 pan of the open sea!

I wonder what his next sailing adventure will be!?

He does set a good example doesn't he, in the way he deals with whatever comes along calmly and competently. Did a good job of making that Contessa 26 more ocean capable and designed and made his own windvane steering as well...
