The determinedly boatless pupil took some pics over the weekend in the gulf of St Tropez. Other pics are various people looking cute, or drunk. I note that the boat is acquiring more and more trashy leopardprint material, sorry.

Great pictures. Looks nice and smooth outside the wake. Did skiers manage to cross it or was it a case of "get outside the wake and stay there"?

I had three boys in the ringo towed behind our Nimbus yesterday. They loved it, even at 20 knots. A bit too bouncy for them in a tight turn though.

well, there's a blimmin gurt big wash and the pic is from a bit too high in a skiboat. Also, it is two kids, and then a girlie (tho admittedly that doesn't mean it is a 75 foot boat). Anyway it was only cos you like the pipccies and stories that i puttem up. Also one of them is reading a Famous Five book. You really are a total brick - wassat mean Dad? It means you are reading an Enid Blyton book, son.

I am total crap at waterskiing. I was driving. You have to give it full wot from standstill to gettem up, then throttle back. Think they are doing about 17 knots. There is an 11yr old, 14 yearold (boys) and the girl crew Emma on there too who is going a bit faster, bout 20 knots.

central vacuum to the rescue

Fab waterskiingshots ! And I bet you spent the afternoon anchored in LaGaroupe cursing people for going round in circles in their 35 footers making wakes!

But someone seems to have spilled a whole bag of pretzels on the saloon floor.....?

Re: you brute

quite blatant shark fishing

those poor things are merely bait
one of the children has what appears to be a yellow bag of chum hanging around his kneck
why are there no photos of their triumphant return climbing the bathing platform???

Re: central vacuum to the rescue

er well we did anchor in garoupe, well spotted. But i was kedgy, and er went ashore for lunch, so no complaints.

I have also solved the problem of going ashore in dinghy in areas where tis a bit prohibited, which is to get passengers to row a bit and bimble along at low speed, very convincing. No good with outboard tho.

Also, jet ribs scoff floaty towropes BUT i can gettem out in 30 minutes (the next day, in harbour, under dinghy)

Re: rascasse

I met with a big 80' flybridge (from Bradford!) who was askance at the idea of taking his own boat. You need a trideck, otherwise no view, he says. You also need to be okay abot the idea of a "race" involving no overtaking...

Didn't see too many jelly fish tho. Find another bay?

Re: rascasse

Yeah, the race is stultifyingly boring but all GP's are like that. We went to the Porquerolles and found all the anchorages infested with jellyfish to some degree. SWMBO fished one of each type out onto the bathing platform for clinical disection (OK, poking with a boathook) and then spent the rest of the week moaning about itchy feet. I just love it when I can say I told you so
Met one bloke who told us that none had bad stings but then we met a Brit whose wife had been badly stung and hospitalised so, being a total wimp, that was enough to keep me out of the water

Re: stingy stuff

You can get excellent ointments for this. I invited the luxurious Adarcy aboard and his delightful wife, and as they were both medically qualified, they were coerced into a parlour game of commenting upon the vast range of tinctures in our medical kit, to date all in unfathomable spanish yet 100% legal. Most of it is for stings, burns and in a variety of flavours including sedative and non-sedative.

I did actually drop the medical kit on my head when putting away the following morning but decided against putting out a panpan.

Only time we were stung was in majorca, the kids. Incidentally, you do need to know local mobby numbers as the ch16 is total rubbish.
