My old iPad run out of RAM capacity (new app versions requires more memory), web browser pages ended in error and Navionics Boating app suddenly closed down now and then.
The new iPad Air 5 procured in September is fast and applications run without errors.
To the old iPad did I use Lifeproof Nuud waterproof case that has worked perfect in many years but the formfactor is different
compared with the new.

My short list of cases for iPad 4/5 (same formfactor):
  • Armor-X MN-A14S
  • AICase
Anyone with good/bad experience of these 2 cases?

Failed to find cases for iPad 4/5 from these vendors:
  • Lifeproof
  • Catalyst

Based on my findings in other discussions threads and that well known retailers in Sweden sells Armor-X cases did I on Friday evening order Armor-X MN-A14S from the vendors web page (waterproof, IP68) to my iPad Air 5th generation 2022 10.9".

After completion of the order did my wife tell me that she needed a bluetooth keyboard from Armor-X….
I contacted the vendor via chat and they arranged so the second order could be sent together with the first order.
Excellent customer support.
DHL asked for approval to fix the customs administration, perfect.

Today, Wednesday, did DHL deliver.
When my wife unboxed the keyboard did she realize it was with UK keyboard (A-Z), we live in Sweden with å,ä, ö….
Apple sorted this for her, when typing words with these Scandinavian characters (by typing a, a, o) the iPad screen display several words, just select the right Swedish word.

I verified that the case was waterproof in the kitchen (no iPad in the case). It was waterproof.
It took me some time to figure out how to remove the plug for charging.

(Armor-X waterproof case has a plastic protection over the screen that sometimes gives a different feeling when scribing compared with the old iPad with Lifeproof Nuud case without display protection.)

How has the case turned out in use at sea, if I might ask?
Many thanks

Ive been using the Armor X case with my 11 inch iPad Pro for a couple of years. It does what it says on the tin. I preferred the Lifeproof Nuud on my previous iPad as there was no screen cover but it doesn't really make a difference. I have shock tested it and it remains unharmed.

Hi,
as Buck I prefer Lifeproof but Armor is the best alternative.
It works fine for us as a complement to the chart plotter.
Overview on the MFD and updated Navionic on the iPad for zoome in on local parts of seacharts.

Last year 3 months and 2024 5 months full time sailing.
The Armor case works fine.

As always the iPad close down when to hot in the Med.
