The water filler, pressure cap assembly is on it,s last legs!

The whole thing that fits into the H/E, manifold is very sad, the pressure cap is 'just' holding, part of the bit that fits into the H/E is broken off, so very little holding the cap down.

Any hints on how to remove the old bit, and fit a new assembly?Access is limited, but there is some.
Possible without taking the manifold H/E off? Bill.

You could try contacting Watermota http://www.watermota.ltd.uk/ I always found them very helpful.

I did that Pete, thanks, and as you say they have been great on this and other occasions. They say solder it in with plumbers solder, but I am worried about doing that without taking the manifold off to do it, bits dropping inside undetected and damaging the pump etc. Just wondered if there were any 'magic' epoxies or similar that would do it. Hi,
i have a SeaPanter which have had the same problem (before that i bought the boat) So there was a a brass plate, fitted with a new cap stand solded onto, which had been bolted (4 bolts) on the heat exchanger, above the hole.
The old cap stand had been removed, erased from the exchanger.

Some time ago i have seen that (electrolysis ?) the screwbolts had been "eaten", only one was yet acting, the assembly was going off and hot water was leaking more and more all the time .

I took the plate off, cleaned the heat exchanger surface, put a new joint (high temperature paste ) and tightened the plate to the exchanger with two long stainlesssteel collars turned around the plate and the exchanger (with insulation ribbon between the SS collars and the aluminum exchanger)

Now works fine since, no leak, could be easy to undo for replacement or re-sealing.

May give you some idea of solution i hope
The old
