Is anything more depressing than spending a cold wet winters afternoon lying on your stomach skinning your knuckles replacing the exhorbitantly expensive rubber seal in you raw water pump only to run the engine and find the f***ing thing still drips.
Oh the joys of being a millionaire boat owner.

Yes.
Spending the afternoon getting wet, skinning your knuckles to get the cover off, and then finding you've got the wrong part.

Regards

Richard.

the dreaded shaft prob, was there a score on the shaft? or did we damage the seal when we put it back in? depending on which there are several ways around it

Thanks for the sympathy chaps.
Its always nice to know you are not alone at times of winter maintenance misery.
The pump is a Jabsco 19mm BRZ 10 Flange fitted to a Volvo MD2020.
I am going back today to try and get it off and bring it back to the comfort of home for a serious look. Although the inaccessibility of two of the bolts means even getting it off might be a mucky struggle !
When I know whether its the shaft or the seal thats b*ggered I'll be back for more advice.

Thanks Perlonius but its the shaft seal not the cover thats leaking.
Also its the dreaded volvo/jabsco combination not a Yanmar.
