Hi everyone

So was on the boat at the weekend and was doing a few checks on engine and noticed the bottom of the bilge was cover in water about an inch in depth, it had anew automatic bilge pump fitted last year and is working fine, I noticed that there is a constant drip from the drive shaft where it goes though the Hull, is this normal or has a seal gone .?

Thanks

All depend on what type of seal you have. Please post a photo of it

Hi

Thanks for the reply ill try and take a photo next time I'm down at the boat.

Its a Seamaster 30 perkins engine tmp box with reduction gearbox if that helps

Please take a photo and post so we can comment better. If a gland it sounds like it will need adjusting for now, and repacking (possibly) at the next lift. It's important these things are not overtightened though as this is equally as bad. Please post a photo.....

If it is a conventional one worth tightening a bit. If you do that too much it will overheat, check it isn't getting hot with your hand if you do tighten it.
