The engines had not been run for many days when I got to the boat and I forgot to switch the water heater on. To my surprise we had piping hot water from the taps all the time we were aboard.

Any thoughts on how we had hot water without the switching on the heater?

Boat is a Princess 61.

Leave the hot tap running for a week then go and ask marina for your electric bill f its high then your switch is duff

You don't define 'many days' or 'piping hot' but even the small tank in our little boat keeps water hot for 24 to 48 hrs after switch off if you dont draw on it.
I'd imagine it would be longer in a large well insulated tank.

We hadn't been on the boat for 8 weeks and drew off half the main water tank in a 4 day stay. Not all the draw off was hot water, of course. After 4 days the hot water alone would scald you like it normally would.

The logical thing is that the switch it broken in the on position. I wondered has this happened to anyone else or maybe the switch goes to a relay and that relay is stuck in the on position, if so where is the relay etc etc.

The only explanation is that the 4 inch washed jets have conducted the sun onto the lower helm switch panel.

This has then turned on the 1500w search light, and using the miracle magnetron this has been boosted to 3000w.

The power has been focused on the fresh water flush system and heated up the water.

I am surprised no one else realised this was the case!

PS - I think your switch is broken and I would be very surprised if a relay is involved. If not then just maybe you have found perpetual energy and hence please let me know and I will be down there to find out how it works!

It would make a nice extra for swimming pools come to think of it ....

You might have been on to something until the post script.

Do you have a really deep vee hull perchance?

Better stiil been thinking about Fins , not any old fins , Sleipner vector type , and even the thought of them in a Uri Geller esq way causes the water to heat up all on its own , such is the power of them , just thinking about them brings near 100 % improvement in everything to do with boats :):):)

We lead to believe :)

Pretty poor return of serve Porto. Maybe try again? :-)

Blimey folks, am I right in sensing that I'm not the only one who desperately needs some boating & relax?
