Water colour painting kept on a yacht

Because condensation behind the glass would make the water painting run years before it would otherwise fade from mildew?

Do you see condensation in double glazing? You shouldn't because desiccant is built into them apart from them being totally sealed.

Err...make yer mind up. BelleSerene wasn't referring to double glazing, but to a suggestion of "two sheets of glass sealed around the edges": no desiccant, no custom gasses. As another poster wrote, "The only way round the foxing issue would be a sealed frame with desiccant embedded". (My bolds.) That poster was you.

Thank you Mac. Indeed, double glazing panels are also filled with dehydrated air or argon gas, precisely so you don’t get condensation between the panes. Or a soggy watercolour between them, of course.

If you think about the thickness of paper compressed between two sheets of glass all having been previously dried either by hot air or desiccant then quickly sandwiched and sealed, there would be no moisture to cause a problem, certainly less than hanging the watercolour conventionally in a normal house let alone a boat.

Thanks for info from different people.
The picture is 20 x 38 inch, think that makes it expensive to scan; but have no idea. Any on any idea about size and cost of scan and print.
The picture is of some birds, so rather than scan and print maybe just buy a poster with a bird on it. Think Athena used to do quite a pleasant one, however it was a different sort of bird and was playing tennis so poss not appropriate.
Basically I have a few acres of teak vener that need to be made more pretty, if my watercolour is going to suffer and a picture of a bird scratching her arse is going to get me in trouble, need some bright idea , Laura Ashley wallpaper is not an option before anyone suggests.
May have to start a new thread on how best to jazz up an expanse of wood that helps to keep the boatin shape.
Simon
Most commercial copy centres should be able to scan something that size with no problems, and even print it out for you on damp resistant paper with UV resistant inks. Using a commercial copy bureau also means that they should have the colour balance of their equipment calibrated, so you get a good copy.
