Washing machine in a boat

Hi can any one tell me if you can have a washing machine in a sealine f42
Hello Mick and welcome to the forum.

Yes you can put a washing machine on your boat. I might take a bit of working out, but anything is doable.

Personally, I'd be asking myself why do I think this is a good idea.

I'm with Sandy. We lived aboard for 12 years without one. Marinas usually have laundry facilities, as do towns.

Totally disagree.
I know we have the space but a washing machine on board is well worth the space if you can find some.
I'm lazy. When I'm on the boat on my own (like now) I will pop in a wash before I go to bed.
I cheat a bit by letting the washer dryer to do some of the drying as well.
But having one on board takes all the "faff" out of doing the laundry.

Back to the point, a friend had a Sealine F42/5 and they had a washing machine in the lazerette.
Likewise we had one in our lazerette on our old Sealine T51

We have a washing machine on the boat, but normally use marina laundry due to there being 4 of us. Handy for towels and smaller loads. Drying can be a pain as I don't like hanging washing all over the boat. I'd say handy, but not essential, just like the dishwasher... actually dishwasher wins, we use that every day!

Suppose it depends on your circumstances.
We have been blessed with good marinas thus far so no real pressure to peruse the idea .
We also have a house in Antibes which we have occasionally used its facilities ( when in that of the woods ) and another in Switzerland + a car in a marina car park to lug gear about in .Then forget which site we have left it on !

Never really yearned for one on the boat TBH .

The laundry in Loano Marina is exemplary I haven’t got a pic but “ She “ ( remember them old fashioned women?:) )does it .
I wouldn’t know where to start after 30/yrs marriage.
I lug it she goes in then we go for a drink / people watching etc .Gets us off the boat socialising etc .

Hard life this marina business ;)
The laundry is in here .

Is there a RYA course on using a washing machine ?:)I will get my coat !

Out of interest where does the soapy / detergent ridden water go on a boat ?
In a marina touting “ Blue flag “ green credentials?

Serious Q to those who have one btw .

When we bought our live aboard trawler in the USA the previous owners had removed the washing machine/dryer and replaced it with a freezer, albeit leaving the existing plumbing in case they changed their minds. They didn't and nor did we. Back home in UK and living on a different boat we rely on marina facilities and/or local laundrettes . Friends nearby have on on a steel ketch but seem to spend lots of time dismantling and repairing i t so too use the marina ones or laundrette in town as unlike us they have a car available . Water capacity would worry me mostly but with electric cost or generator size and fuel usage a close run behind. My lovely one is just now getting ready for wash day in our marina facility which will keep her busy for a couple of hours...

Correct in as much as we know well where the retired wealth is and as an ex lifelong raggy now living on a mobo it certainly isn't true of me, Now for retired ex civil servants on gold plated final salary deals the realities of life might be significantly different ?

Bitter, you becha

Since moving aboard full time the only thing we miss is the dishwasher. We tried pawning off some of these chores to the kids and there was open rebellion.
