My father had a twin/bilge keel Moody 34 which we had in the family for 12 years.
Having a centre cockpit made it easy to handle when only 2 on board. Having an aft cabin, the usual fore cabin and heads by the companionway gave a good level of privacy if you had two couples on board.
Access to maintain the engine , stern gear, batteries etc was through a big 4’ x 2’ hatch in the passageway to the aft cabin which is a lot easier than from the front or hanging from the cockpit sole. The engine was the dependable and long lasting Thornycroft/BMC1500 which would push along at 6 knots at a gallon every 2 hours.
Sailing was adequate but needed reefing early at say force 5 gusts.
