watched the Sydney/Hobart race on Sky last night(Spirit of Yachting), and very good it was too. However, 1st, 2nd & 3rd places taken by Skandia, Zarna & Grundig, 3 very, very expensive yachts, but who won the race overall??
A Beneteau 40.7 cruising yacht./forums/images/icons/crazy.gif

Its hardly a regular cruising yacht. They were designed with IRC ratings in mind and race well.

Just goes to show, money can't buy you love dude!
In my experience, the people on the big boats are there because of who they know, not how good they are. Even if you have pro's onboard, being a pro doesn't mean you're good. I remember last years (might have been the year before) RYA match racing open... The winner was the amateur match racing champion, and he was up against big america's cup names.
