yes, that's right, B&Q.

They are selling two stroke generators at £99.98 a throw but nowhere can you get any info as to the waveform of the output. The only quoted figure is 720watts continuous (and I surmise by the model number, 980watts intermittent) Probably not a suitable output to run a battery charger but probably OK for power tools or lighting to antifoul by. 3hrs duration per fill-up.

an alternator is likely to produce something pretty close to a sine wave. it's only cheap inverters that put out square wave.

more important is the frequency/voltage regulation which is likely to be a bit suspect in a cheap genny.
