Walton Yacht Basin

We went there once. It was lovely. I seem to remember that the sill is V shaped, so bilge keels may need to be careful. I'd love to see a south-coaster trying to find his way in.

Went down and had a look at low water (seemed like a good idea!). The cill itself is flat but the channel to it is quite narrow and has the potential to be a bilge keel trap! I'd not be keen to try it on a falling tide, in and out on the last of the flood methinks

I've got 19hp and a deep fin.... I suspect nothing more thick than a onion gravy....

Went a few years ago before we got too 'fat' to fit.

As a youngster I used to sail Mirrors at W&FYC Cadet Week and remember while my parents had a lunchtime pint, on occasion I would watch Halls or possibly Bedwells (can't remember) rig up their tractor to lower the gate to the pond. This year in my own 'Circle of Life' I took my own kids down to take part in Cadet Week, 20 odd years after I last sailed there... they loved it and it brought back all sort of memories. You can't not love Walton!

If we do another calendar next year, I would expect to see at least a couple of these submitted.

If? IF!! (in a Brian Blessed style) I really look forward to receiving mine every year as does my FIL who gets one for Xmas. It shows me all the places I haven't managed to visit yet....:o
Please let it continue...:encouragement:

Yes has got a certain charm and most definitely gets a tick on the mud front ;)

These pics are not of the Yacht Basin. They are of the creek adjacent to the Yacht Basin which services the boatyard. I would completely recommend the Yacht Basin. Spent some time there last year with a twitchy 32 footer and single handed. No problems getting in and out etc.

I encountered some fiscal difficulties with a couple of forumites who ordered and did not pay.......so the price will have to be upped to take into account my risk, which I am loathe to do.

...and great though they are, there isn't a single shot of the rather lovely shiny new club house also well worth a visit.
