Saguday now anchored in Hamford Water and flying a suitably piratical flag, just west of Green No.9, behind a beautiful classic ketch called Morningstar.

For those attending the Pirate weekend please note that it's getting busy and the Stone Pt area is quite congested. There are also already nearly 20 boats anchored here in Hamford ... Where of course the holding is pretty good on our 50m of chain :)

Weather is bright and sunny here with 10-12 kts from the W occ gusts to 18kts. We are being treated to a fab view of a thunderstorm rolling over Ipswich and the Orwell - hope none of you are under it :(

Neil

Weather update: another thunderstorm is rolling over Felixstowe and a small one passed south of us near Walton/Frinton. Moving pretty quickly though so they're gone in maybe half an hour. We've had some rain but lots of sun too - great day for weather fans :)

Oops, the cranes have disappeared again, must be really heavy rain, spectacular rainbow as it moves out to sea.

Well, at least the weather will be better tomorrow :)

Jolly interesting to watch though. Another t'storm directly ahead but looks like its slipping south of us now. Beachlovers at Frinton about to get pasted...

Neil, if they're anything like the storms that have been passing over us for a while now, get below and stay there
Hail stones like bullets, looked almost like winter outside until the sun came out again, only short storms but they hurt like hell. Don't ask :o
Hope all have a good weekend out there, looks like a good one on the way

Sounds great, shame we can't anchor except in extremes ;)

Stopping off at Shotley tonight and will pick up a buoy tomorrow

Mini pirates fit to burst with excitement :D

Beautiful weather now going to be a great evening. 4 seal sightings so far all quite close to the boat.

East Coast gaffers are still here at W&FYC so many bouys in use not sure if they are moving on tomorrow.

Just seen what we assume to be Bradwell cruising club swing by and into the channel heading for their knees-up in Titchmarsh. Seen a few Tollesbury boats as well. Counted about 30 boats in here now, 2 of them currently aground.

Full Circle on station in Stone Point. Got very wet thank you.

Currently room for about 10 boats, and 8 more on the river bank. Park near the deep furrow nearly opposite 13 buoy.

Ha bluidy Ha!

Anyway, how did you sneak past? We've been on picket duty all afternoon looking out for you, clearly radio silence has it's advantages.

There was big barge-like thing in there earlier but she left a couple of hours ago so that must have left room for half a dozen of us placky boats

Salmon fillets and white wine are on the go. Towels can wait a bit.

Humphhhh. Big Pirate flag suffered damage in the maelstrom off Harwich this afternoon. Temp repairs made but only low breezeworthy.

20kts forecast later tonight and through the wee hours so suggest tucking it away safely.

Dinner sounds great purs will be on he go shortly. Currently sitting in cockpit with tea watching spectacular skies - been a great photo day today.

Dam you sending all that wet stuff our way.
We were heading into Shotley as it came though.
30knts of wind and large hailstone.

Now safe in J37 Shotley and dried out.

One chap tried to cut the corner from the Orwell to Shotley lock.
He ignored Shotley tower's advice to go out to the posts.
He stopped about 2 boat lengths away from the channel.
This was about 3 hours before low water.
We went to pay our dues to the Tower at about 5 p.m. and he was heeled over to about 20 degrees.

Planning to head of to see ROBERT about mid-day tomorrow.

Hope you all enjoy yourselfes and time does not DRAG.

We were under it by Felixstowe docks - a 20 minute deluge and the wind speed on my display peaked at 40kts! I discovered that rain driven at this speed hurts a bit, but is good for washing your decks down! :D

We crossed the estuary from Bradwell to the East Swale on Friday afternoon, we ran out of the rain eventually, but it still looked dire over Essex and Suffolk. I took this pic from the East Swale at about 1900, looking NNE across Shellness (in the foreground) towards Clacton area. We were glad we weren't under that lot!
