Walton Backwaters guide/chart

I'm moving my Anderson 22 to Titchmarsh marina in a few weeks, and want to do as much of the more remote creeks as possible. I know I'm going to get suggestions of "read Secret Water" - which I'm doing again after many years - but is there any guide written? I think there's even a few more than Dylan did in the slug, any suggestions?

You'll find 10 pages about the Backwaters in 'East Coast Pilot', which ought to be pretty comprehensive if only because one of the authors kept his boat at Titchmarsh until recently, and knows the place inside out.

Thanks for the replies. I've got East Coast Pilot (both) East Coast Rivers (multiple), the Derek Bowskill one (which I can't remember the name of) and still Secret Water probably has more detail about, say, the channel to Kirby Quay, the various creeks off of Oakley Creek East & West, and so on. When I've anchored in Landermere Creek I could see various entrances into Moze Creek but with stakes into these entrances. East Coast Pilot has quite a good paragraph on Oakley Creek, but there seems to be a lot more - see Dylan's video of Oakley Creek and the various creeks back to the top end of Landermere Creek. I'll have a kayak to do the most remote ones & I'll guess I'll have to write it myself!

It will be brilliant fun in a kayak!

We rowed across Coney Ooze (can't quite remember the name, but the bit north of Hamford and Landemere which floods at high tide) in our nasty unrowable rubber dinghy, and had seals all around us. We've also explored most of the other creeks (mainly with the unreliable, noisy outboard). We now have an inflatable kayak, and are looking forward to using that this summer. Perhaps we'll see you there.

Walton Backwaters

I've explored most of the creeks and it's my favourite spot on the East Coast.

I suggest the subscribe to www.keepturningleft.co.uk, where Dylan Winter has posted some excellent films of the Backwaters.

The best way to explore fully is by small sailing tender/dinghy or as has been suggested a canoe.
