I've recently acquired (bought I hasten to add) a walker knotmaster mklll log. Does anyone know if spares can still be obtained for these? if so where from?
The unit is attached via a jointed bracket with a circular chromed clamp which apparently fixes to a "shoe" which is presumably attached to the boat. I do not have this "shoe" but would like to obtain one. I have no idea what this looks like so any descriptions or other info would be welcome.

cheers

Try Walker Marine at :

37 - 41 Bissell Street

The original company was taken over but several years ago they were still able to supply me with new shoes and also a new face for a log I was restoring.

If you walk around the average marina and look at older boats you will often see the boat fitting at the rear of the cockpit. Get chatting and you may be able to remove it for the cost of a drink! or try boat jumbles.

OK good idea but the vast majority of yachts are moored bows to. I'm not sure about lurking around the end of finger pontoons peering into other peoples cockpits, especially as most of the fingers are much shorter than the boats so I would really have to get aboard the yacht to see anything. Also I still don't know what I am looking for. Thanks anyway, sorry if that sounds a bit negative.

Your looking for two circular discs, stainless steel (?) about 3" dia, with 2 D shaped cut outs, so you have a annular ring with a centre bar. There are two spigots if I remember that the log head fits on, there are two you needs a port one and a starboard one, which is marked on..
When we bought our boat there were two on our stern, and I thought good a walker log. next I knew the previous owner had removed them to fit the log to his new boat. The problem with a verbal spec list, you never have a copy to wave at the owner.
If you see a Wasp log mounting I need details, or one, as my log is all there but for fixing bracket.
