VW

A couple of years back, VW announced they were making marine diesel motors.
Did they ? anyone know what they are like ?

I don't know but I imagine they would be good if they were to make them. VW has always favoured maximising torque.

In that case how about being careful with how you apply the throttle, after all careless torque costs lives?

some years back there was a "Golf" engine manarinesed by ?.
i belive it was advertised in YM.
i have a Kubota based engine & its very good, more torque @ same revs as the previous 4108, quieter as it ought to be ( designed some 40 yrs later) smaller better ecomomy

Saw them at the last Boat Show at earls court. Power range was from 75hp upto 150hp. Larger engines were based on the 5 pot lumps I think. MBM had a bit on them, can't remember what edition it was though. One thing that sticks in my mind was that they said all generic parts with car engines would be sold at the car price. Not seen anything on them since though.

there was a VW stand at ExCeL this year. i think it was next to the perkins stand. they had a 205hp V5 i think. lots of torque
