I don't know but I imagine they would be good if they were to make them. VW has always favoured maximising torque.

some years back there was a "Golf" engine manarinesed by ?.
i belive it was advertised in YM.
i have a Kubota based engine & its very good, more torque @ same revs as the previous 4108, quieter as it ought to be ( designed some 40 yrs later) smaller better ecomomy

Saw them at the last Boat Show at earls court. Power range was from 75hp upto 150hp. Larger engines were based on the 5 pot lumps I think. MBM had a bit on them, can't remember what edition it was though. One thing that sticks in my mind was that they said all generic parts with car engines would be sold at the car price. Not seen anything on them since though.
