I need to replace the fuel pump on my VP2002 and ordered one from Repower Marine. The new pump looks like the correct type (of the two options) but the fuel lines are roughly 10mm out of alignment with the ports on the new pump. I vaguely remember something about some new pumps needing modified fuel lines but can't get any advice from Repower as they don't seem to answer their phones or reply to messages. Has anyone here had the same issue and managed to find a solution?

Thanks!

I'm going from memory here, and may not have everything completely correct.

The VP 200x series engines have used two different fuel pumps over the years, and I think the later one requires slightly different fuel connection pipes to the older one. One (I THINK the older one) has a mesh filter that can be removed and cleaned; the newer is sealed. If you get the later one, you also need to buy new connection pipes.

Yes a fuel pipe 860912 is needed when replacing a non sealed pump with a sealed pump ............... but is costs more than the new pump !

See Keypart's website for details

Update time: It was the lift pump that needed changing, the older, unsealed type. It seems the old type pump is not available but is replaced by a similar pump from a newer Volvo that needs a modified outlet fuel line (Part Number 840001). Cost of pump, £90. Cost of 6" Volvo fuel line, £75.

It's relatively old topic but this might help someone. I switched from mechanical to electric fuel lift pump on my Volvo Penta 2002.
Results are really satisfying, bleeding the fuel line is extremely quick and starting the engine takes no more than second.

Here is the video I made during this conversion process so you can find all data about the pump and electric installation there. There is also a before/after sequence at the end of the video as a comparison between starting the engine with mechanical, and electric fuel pump.
Cheers!
