I watched the prop rotate the shaft undersail last week and it was clockwise on my VP2002. Pity we can't harvest some energy when it is doing that.
While hearing the noise of the prop spinning the shaft when you get to 4.8 knots SOG is nice I feel it will make me go mad on a months voyage. Tips for reducing the noise are welcome. Putting the engine into gear is not acceptable as:
a) we lose half a knot; and
b) the manual says don't.
Thanks for the tip Richard, it is on my "think about" list prior to going over the other side of the pond.A folding or feathering prop is your only solution, I'm afraid. :ambivalence:
