Has anyone found an alternative to the volvo penta overheat alarm temperature switch on the thermostat block?
One of mine comes on even from cold so must a duff switch but £120+ is just taking the pee for something so simple, I was thinking radiator fan switch but need one with the same thread with minimal wiring modification.

Find the part number which may be stamped on the sender and look on ebay or just google it.You may find its used on a motor vehicle.

You might try this - self build (I made this from this article and it works great)

It provides an in line cooling flow monitor / alarm / buzzer and LED. Not bad for not much money.
It tells you there’s a problem - before the engine overheats. (Or if you’ve not opened the sea cocks)

There may be better systems out there now but not for this price.

Make sure you buy the correct type as it could be an over temperature eg bimetal switch, or a variable resister which would normally drive a temperature gauge but could be set to trigger a max temp alarm.

If you can identify the part number from the schematic below you should be able to find it much cheaper elsewhere. Just be aware that Volvo have a habit of changing the connections so double check which type you have first. If its 833927, for example, SVB24 are selling them for €44 but I suspect you'll be able to find them cheaper than that with a bit of searching.

None yet, boat is 100 miles away and I was going to get a switch till I saw the price, meter comes out next visit and switch gets disconnected to check the light goes out.
Just thought I'd pose the question in case someone's found a cheap alternative.
Keypart may have a less expensive alternative
