Hi

Currently not at boat just now so asking this question

What is the diameter size of the raw water hose from the saildrive seacock to the filter?

Cheeky will be coming out of the water later on to have the saildrive seal replaced and at the same time I am planning to add a new value for the inlet. I am planning to use a tru design one which I need to order before going back to the boat

Thanks for any help
Regards
Graham

My mates boat with a 2030, the hose to and from the raw water filter is 19mm id. I had the devils own job finding some for him in Portugal. It’s basically old car heater hose.

Yes it is 19mm. Not sure a Tru Design 3/4" valve will fit in the saildrive housing. Check before you buy. I seem to remember the Volvo fitting is not a standard valve.

I blocked off my saildrive water intake as it just blocked up with shellfish growth, and impossible to clear.

Now have a dedicated thru hull by the engine.

I know people do this and it seems very sensible BUT on my prop shaft type VP gearbox the raw water is pulled through an intercooler/heat exchanger in the gearbox. It cools the gearbox. I haven’t investigated the interaction of pulling the raw water through the sail drive. The gearbox is basically the same as mine. It may be worth checking to make sure to see if it is supposed to cool it?
