Hello all,

During a weeks cruising over Easter I noticed a small oil leak from the bottom of the fuel lift pump. The nuts seemed snug and I am cautious of over tightening so I plan to remove and replace the lift pump gasket.

Am I right in assuming that this is a simple enough procedure?

Cheers,

D.

yes its pretty easy, turn off the fuel supply, rags/containers underneath to catch a bit of diesel, undo everything, clean it all up, new gasket, new/clean copper washers on the fuel pipe connectors, back together again. Bleed the engine jobs a good 'un.

Just a tip, if its difficult to get the pump to sit flat on its flange its the arm being pushed by the cam, rotate the engine until the arm doesn’t fight you.

Just thinking, if it needs rotated are we bumping the starter or will a bar work on the pulley? Surely not???

turn the engine with a 19mm (or is that 21mm?) socket on the end of the crank shaft (inside the big pulley/damper) with a breaker bar. Should turn reasonably easy
