Twice today in testing the boat back in the water the Port engine just stopped....not a slow drag down like fuel starvation, a full stop. Eventually restarted with some churning of the starter each time.
Both times this happened was when pushing the throttles forward and really powering up.....revs building up then the Port unit stopped/ Though earlier on the run it had run happily near enough flat for a short while to check everything.
An ideas? looks like it is going to mess up the holidays.
It ran home perfectly at slow cruising speed/rpm on both engines.
 
check your fuel filters for gunge and fuel lines for any sign of leaks/loose connections.
Sounds like the engine can't get enough fuel through.
 
had plugged filters before, after we bought it and stirred up muck in the tanks as it had not been for decades! that caused loss of power, not felt real good then stop. I have not looked at the filters but they are recent and the sediment bowls are clean and see through red diesel.
Pipes will check but again, had leaky pipes before on things and usually its loss of power not a sudden stop but perhaps this is different.
Its like the stop solenoid is operated it is that sudden.
 
Sounds like you’ve either drawn air or you have filter issues. Or tank pick up issues. I’m aware of a friend that had the same issue as a result of best intentions. He had no problems but decided to dose his tanks with fuel biocides after hearing it was the thing to do. The boat was about 30 years old. What happened was that the additives then started stirring up and loosening years of happily settled sludge and crap in the tanks. They went through the filters for hours afterwards and about 5 filter changes were done before the worst of it was over.
If it’s not like it’s a fuel starve problem then check the soloniod and linkage that shuts of the fuel at the pump (the thing that operates when you turn the key off)

There isn’t any linkage , it’s a solenoid direct to the pump.
