Hi everyone I’m new here normally I would ask this question at boatdiesel but since that website appears to be permanently disabled I decided to try one of the other boating forums on here. I’ve got a TAMD 74 EDC engine on my commercial fishing boat and after using it for the last 4 months it all of a sudden started only starting in limp mode. When I press the active station (key button) on the control pad the red light that normally is supposed to stay solid red all day blinks a bunch then goes out. If you start it, it immediately goes to 1000 rpm and the throttle is disabled and will not work. I have tried a new control pad, key switch, examined the plugs on wiring harness that I could see and cleaned and reconnected, checked grounds and positives on starter, disconnecting battery and reconnecting and nothing has worked. Has anyone had something similar happen? I also attempted to recalibrate the controls and when I tried the red and yellow light on the control bad just blinked simultaneously and would accept my inputs. Is there anyone on here familiar with these engine and know what it could be that’s causing this? Any ideas would be great

You need to hold the D button for 5 seconds and tell us the fault code or multiple codes.

I’ve done that and it only gives a 5.6 code which indicates boost pressure too low/high. Attempt to clear it and seems to nothing the active station red lamp should stay on solid but mine flashes and goes out

Try to calibrate the lever , turn ignition off, hold N button down while turning ignition on release button after 5 seconds you should be in calibration mode with N and D flashing , if you can’t get to calibration mode you have an active fault code.
You will need to trace the fault before you can do anything.
Check the boost pressure sensor it’s inside the ECU .

I have attempted to calibrate. When I do both the Active station light (red) and the diagnosis (yellow) light flash at the same time

Does your vessel have twin engines? Maybe swap boost sensors from one to rule out a bad sensor? Or swap EVC/ECUs? An aside: I've found this forum to have folks with a wealth of knowledge and experience. I'm sure you'll find a fix soon.

Do you have two stations?
I think the red light flashing means it can't see the calibration. Fault codes should clear when the power is switched off but if they come back as soon as the power is switched on I don't think it will allow calibration.
I have been trying to sort a similar issue with a friend's boat off and on all season without success. I think getting the VP code reader to see what that says and clear everything is about the best hope. Do you have access to the reader?
