Well we have moved up to our new boat- quite a step up from a Sealine S23 to a Cornich 31 though!

She is great with lots of space and great build quality

However I suspect I know the answer but does anyone know where I could get a couple of new tachos as the existing ones are shot!

I found a firm in Wales But never followed it through. Cables and wires or some thing. Never followed it through. It seems that they can mend them or supply. Is it VD0??

Sort of Volvo but different.

Dont know anything about your tachos, but I love the boat. Thats a late one isnt it? I had an early Corniche, absolutely loved it...

I also don't know anything about the tacho's and i also like the look of the boat, she looks very smart indeed. We've recently been thinking about what we'd have as our next boat and the Corniche is currently top of our list. Be interested to hear any views you have on the boat, as well as how you find the running costs. Is she on shafts or legs ? I assume she's fitted with TAMD41b's ?

She is great and yes one of the last ones made

What you cannot see is she has a transom door that makes access so much easier and made this amuch more practical proposition

She is twin 41b on shafts- as for running cost I have yet to see as we have only done 50 miles in her so far.

She is very spacious for the length and the guest cabin is really comfortable with big bunks and plenty of storage

I thought that looked like a transom door. Not seen a pic of another Corniche with the door, which we really like on our current boat. Do you know if it was a special order or conversion, or if it was standard on the late models ?

Hi

What exactly is the problem with the tacho's?

Apart from being shot - do they have bullet holes in them? Sorry couldn't resist that!

LOL

Actually one is lazy and does not register until the engine has been running half an hour or so, on the other the engine hours meter does not work but more importantly both over read alot at tickover and at revs oscillate wildly so are next to useless- all you can tell is the engine is running and if it is slow or fast- I can tell that without an instrument!

Odly the flybridge tachos (without the meter in) work fine

Sorry Paul- not too sure of the history of the door but it seems to have been an option on the later boats

I will let you know if I find out more as I go over and organise the boat receipts from 18 years ago

Hi,

After fiddling around on my first boat with tacho repairs I replaced them with VDO truck ones. A fraction of the price of the volvo ones and the same diameter. My repair guy told me the circuitboards get damaged by the pounding and vibration. He told me the one VDO made for volvo was less robust than VDO's own.

I had a similar problem with one of my VP tacho's and after fault tracing it turned out that one of the previous owners of my boat had moved the depth sounder to fit a plotter in the dash and hadn't earthed it very well. The subsiquent interference had mean't that one of the tacho's wouldn't read properly or hour count for I estimate 10 years judging by the difference in hours registered. After I rewired it properly it works perfectly.
It may be something simple like that. BTW they are VDO guages rebadged.

Thanks for the info

I have made contact with speedycables who have quoted me £80each plus VAT- Much better than nearly £250 each new!

I will let you know what the service is like (and if they fix it!)
