Hi All,

Back in July i posted a message on the forum regarding drive noise on my 135 SX drive at between 1900 - 2100 revs.

Since then the service agent has -

Checked the drive alignment

Replaced the gimbal bearing

Replaced the U joints

Replaced the top housing drive bearing

After fitting all of the above parts the faults have not been rectified.

The gimbal bearing noise is more noticeable on the left hand lock, but can still be heard when the steering is in the straight ahead position, and the gear whine is at its loudest at 2000 revs and starts to disapear as the revs increase.

The problemis is that i believe that they have run out of ideas to rectify the problem.
Do Volvo service agents have access to technical support when a problem can not be resolved by the service agent?

If anyone has had similar problems with theSX drive, i would be very interested.

Regards

Yes all VP dealers have access to an area rep who does trouble shooting also to the head office in Sweden.
This is a real puzzler, have they tried running the engine with the drive off, to be certain its from the drive, and have they another drive the could use for a test, all the obvious things have been done, so either its deeper in the drive or its in the engine .

Another thought, you have not stated what engine you have.

Here is a recent scenario I heard of.

Man buys vetus engine and drive from coastal rides, has problems to do with noise/chatter etc at low revs.

Leg stripped nothing found as supposed to be new.

Volvo get involved, turns out the engine flywheel is too small and light, not enough inertia to give smooth running.

Net result, leg and engine not designed to work correctly together.

Another home made job and a lot of fuss and costs for nothing.

Moral, buy and stick to proper engine packages that are tried and tested by proper manufacturers that spend millions on testing and design years before they hit the market.

Like Volvo D4-6's, injectors, steering cylinders and hoses, seawater pumps?
Sorry Paul couldn't resist that one!!
We're both in the front line when it comes to VP problems aren't we.

I didnt say they got it right!!!

Seriously I do know what you mean, I would say that bosch have got the injectors right its just the cylinder heads all wrong, it points to too much high temp around the injectors IMHO, seen it all before.
