Volvo Propellers - Advise required - 16x15 or 14x19 ?

I have slightly damaged one of my propellers (LH) over the weekend and this has prompted me to look at replacing both (RH & LH).

I have twin Volvo Penta AQ171 Petrol engines with 290 leg. The owners hand book quotes that the propellers are 3 blade 16x15. I don't know for sure as I haven't taken her out of the water to inspect yet.

I have been advised that I could change to 14x19 props which would give better performance?

It would appear that the 16x15 props were designed for river use whereas my boat is moored on Hamble River and we are in the Solent on a regular basis.

Any thoughts ??

Also, does anyone know if these props have short of long hubs?

Finally, does anyone know where I could buy a pair (RH & LH) at a reasonable price. The Volvo main dealers are trying to rob me !!!

However, a UK alternative are these guys: http://www.steeldevelopments.co.uk/ - they import Solas props which are a Volvo equivalent. They were quoting around £180/prop (VP £325)

You could try Keypart in Watford ( i have no connection ) I recently purchased two new VP props at £250 each also had my old ones repaired at steel dev. for £60 each one and they did a good job, one was really damaged, came back balanced etc.
