the ecu for one of my tamd 73p edc engines is giving an 8.3 diagnostic fault reading and will not clear, any ideas, can they repaired ,thanks. <span style="color:red"> </span>

the manual says:-

Code 8.3 Calibration
Cause: The calibration values cannot be stored by the
control module.
Consequence: The control must be calibrated before each
start.
Corrective action:
• Erase the diagnostic trouble code (DTC).
• Recalibrate the control.
• Contact an authorized workshop if the fault persists.

Sounds like it might need a volvo engineer and his laptop.

No recon units are available. no surprises that volvo hold all the cards !! I had a faulty ecu replaced on a kad 44 two years ago and the only option was a new one which then had to be programmed up by the local dealer. cost about £1500 to £1800 from memory. Good luck

Does the boat run OK? My starboard engine light has been flashing last 12 months, the code shows a temp sensor fault, but its been checked out and is OK. The VP dealer can't clear the fault light.

no it wont start and i have tried it on the other engine and it won't work on it either, it seems dead.are they serviceable units or do they have to be replaced.
