Anyone got any info on this Volvo Penta Tachometer?

VDO Part Number: 02 070 105

I believe it was fitted to the D2-55A.

Is it programmable? What is the diameter?

OK, perhaps it was a long shot.

Does anyone know where I can download Volvo Penta / VDO manuals for retired instruments? The VP and VDO sites are useless in this respect.

Try www.egauges.com/Inst_PDF.asp you might find something similar but as you say the VDO site is poor for details of old units.

The 873686 tacho was, I believe, a 70mm or 72mm diameter body. It fitted in to a standard 90mm diameter hole in VP panels, using an adaptor front ring. It read to 3400rpm. For the last 10 years or so, the common VP tacho for diesel engines has been part number 873992, which reads to 4600rpm and has an LCD hours meter.

Most VDO tachometers are adjustable, so I'd assume the 873686 tacho was.

Hi , this tachometer appears to be the older version , can you add a picture of the back?
What engine do you want to use it on? Be careful because some are pulse sensed and get a signal from the sensor on the timing case and other a w connection mostly from the alternator ,
Post what you need and for what engine or signal set up you need and we will try to post the appropriate part number
