Visitor to our moorings has a problem.
Gearbox is stuck in reverse.

He is in company and is happy to go back to home port on one engine.
The problem is in the box and not cables etc.
First thoughs... something to do with the cone ?
Any suggestions as how to get it back into neutral or into ahead, all/any comments most welcome.

Slacken off the 14 mm head bolt in centre of shift actuator that should release the cone as the spring is pushing the cone shift shoe over centre .

Cheers Paul.
Now on his way back home.
Assume box has got to come out ?
Skipper is well capable of getting the box out himself.
Old fashioned stern glands, so suggested he just drops the prop shaft back which should give enough clearance to get drive shaft out of damper plate.

An Essex boat, got to be somebody up that way who can look at it for him. ?
Last time he came to visit did try to flog him my " just in case" MS4 box bought years ago as a spare and never needed.
Recently sold to chap from Germany who actually drove over and collected it.
