Not sure if anyone here has come across this problem but I made arrangements for my local Volvo agent to perform an upgrade for trip computer etc. Passed on the engine detail Serial number / product number etc however he stated that he could not download the software for my engine. He told me this was the first time it had happened but can’t do the upgrade. I would really like to know if perhaps the previous owner had arranged for it to be done but then decided not to have it upgraded. Would this prevent the software from being downloaded again from VP server based on my serial / Product numbers he submitted. Any clues would be much appreciated.
 
Sounds like it’s either:

- A temporary issue with the website/system that is used to download the software
- A misunderstanding of how to activate the Trip Computer software
- A temporary issue with the Vodia or the Vodia software being used

Have they raised it with Volvo Penta & asked why it can’t be downloaded? Even if another Dealer has downloaded software for your engine(s) historically, the guys in the support team can ‘unlock’ software and make it available for download again.
 
Hi Andy. Thanks for the reply. The guy was from RLR yachting Malta. When he called me on the morning he was to come to the boat he said he just did not understand why he could not download the S/W on my serial numbers and the server was from VP Italy and the guy there was away on leave. He didn’t say if he had raised a problem with them so again I have to wait till Italy returns from leave. I did send an email direct to you not sure if you received it. No worries. Bill
 
I have done dozens of software upgrades on volvos and the system allows you to download existing software for free and volvo campaigns to fix known faults are free. You only pay if you are going to a newer version of the software or adding functions, of course the engineers time is chargeable.

If I give you my serial numbers can you see if there is an improvement in the software?
 
Sorry but we have discontinued Volvo as they were getting too expensive to remain a dealer, for the few Volvo power customers that we have so I can’t access the database.
 
Send them over & I’ll check for you ?
Have you got any specific issues or do you just want to know if there are any updates available?
