Volvo Penta D6 and Raymarine E80 interfacing

I know this has come up before, but I can't get these to talk to each other. I have fitted the VP nmea gateway, and connected this to the E80 plotter using seatalk 2. I have got the engine display mode up on the plotter, but all the 'dials' are blank- no engine info shown.
I tried initialising the EVC-C system, but it doesn't seem to need this as it just goes into calibration mode. Has anybody else done this and got it to work??

This may seem like a silly question, but has your EVC system been flashed with the trip computer software? It's something like £350 per engine, and doesn't normally come as standard.

Engine data should still display on the Raymarine screen - all data on the EVC can be shown on the E80 I think? It's only trip/fuel data that won't be displayed if you haven't got the trip computer software on the engines. But if you do want that, your right, it's about £350 per engine plus the labour!

Yes I had the trip computer software fitted a couple of years ago, and I have an EVC display up and running with no problems. I wanted the nmea gateway so that I could display litres/mile- which is the only thing the present setup won't do.

I got it to work fine. For starters, try putting 5.52 s/w on the e80 (from raym website) as this is better with nmea2000 data

I installed this interface last week on a new Aquador with a D4 engine, initially it didn't work but after the ignition switch had been on a few minutes they found each other and began to talk to each other, I guess they were just shy being on a blind date!
It doesn't display the engine data in real time as the date is sampled from the EVC system which creates a bit of a delay especially on the rev counter which can be a bit jerky, but when you are cruising its all pretty stable which is what you want from an engines instrument readings.
