Volvo Penta D4 oil consumption

Great, now after block exchange the engine feels sluggish and will only rev to 3000 rpm. Our local volvo penta workshop refuses to believe something is wrong, as no fault show up on vodia!
Before block replacement the engine took 3450 revs at WOT with same propeller!! they only suggest that we should change to a smaller prop.
I would be tempted to tell them to stick the propeller where the sun don't shine!

There's three power ratings for D4's. Have they fitted the correct one?!

Up to 260 its the same block, 300 is different, they would have fitted same electrics again.

How long has the boat been sitting around in the water gathering weed while work waiting to be done.

I had a scare couple yrs ago with my D4 I dipped it and it showed no oil, I drove 30 miles round trip for a 5L can of oil put about a litre in, dipped it and it showed far to much oil, being confused, I double checked and had to remove about a litre and it was about right on the dip stick. I thought I was going mad, I did nothing out of the ordinary and oil doesn't hide.

I have this situation on my tamd41p. The first time I pulled the dipstick and found no oil I had a scare too. I then discovered that if you put the dipstick back in and straight out again the oil is at the correct level after all. It appears that you need to break the seal created by the o-ring at the top of the dipstick tube to enable the oil in the bottom of the tube to equalise with the level in the sump.

Yeah they changed only block and head. All accessories and electronics from old engineblock. Very frustrating to try to talk to vp service as they claim nothing is wrong.

And they claim to have checked that serialnumbers on block and head are for the 300hp one... But at this point I don't trust anything they say.

Took the boat up last weekend, not a considerable amount of growth. And the problem occurred straight away after block exchange early summer. End of last year everything was fine and engine took 3500rpm with old block.
