The hull is blue, but after receiving email from the broker they say that the hull was re gel coated and it had a major refit in july 2017

Sealine S28 perhaps? I'm told that some people like them!
Hello nicho,Re-gelcoated? Sounds a bit ott - the advert says full hull polish/antifoul, are you sure it has had the gel coat replaced? Overall looks a nice boat, recently brought up to date. I guess the performance will be a bit limited, but if it surveys well and the engines perform reasonably on a sea trial, seems like a bargain, especially after a bit of negotiation.
Hello nicho,
this is the email reply I received from the Broker.
' We sold this boat approx 6 years ago and carried out a major refit to bring the look to a more modern one, which included changing the hull colour to blue, new blue helm dash, new canopies, carpets, upholstery. The general condition is still good now benefiting from the following recent works. New anti-foul, anodes, full engine/out-drive service, full GRP polish, new decals, x 4 new trim rams and new helm seat'.
I think the boat used to be called 'Buddy'. It is still on our ybw sales site (Essex marina wallasea) under this name but that boat has long gone I think.
Beaustar is for sale on boats.co.uk, again at Essex marina wallasea. Pics all look the same. looks like the same boat to me. The reflection of the guy in the mirror in the cabin taking the photo. Same on both boats.

With the regard to re gel coating, at the moment I would have to take the brokers word for it until I see it for myself. But as you say they are a good broker. Re gel coating I wouldn't think would be that much of an issue over painting. Lots of rubbing down then masking up and spraying and then rubbing down again. Its the same for both processes really. I think the gel done properly will always be better than paint.Firstly, in my experience, Boats.co.uk are a very good broker - we bought one of their stock boats, and their warranty was honoured in every respect, even extended to six months after some engine issues. This boat is brokerage only and presumably with no warranty, so if you go ahead, a full survey on both hull and engines/outdrives would be a necessity. I am still unsure why the boat was "re-gelled", which would surely be a massive job - are you sure the hull was not just painted blue? Anyway, good luck with your future purchase whatever that may be.

could someone please explain to me 'underpropped, over propped etc.I stand corrected then impending senility
Guilty
I think you're right. Buddy and Beaustar are the same boat. Beaustar has had a bit of a facelift. Did you go on board or was it an online viewing.I had a look at that boat last year it was called buddy,I think from memory the engines are 150hp
One comparison is gears in a car
With outdrives normally you select the pitch or series number for Dou prop sets
The correct pitch will match the engine /boat to give max wide open throttle as determined by the engine pump setting
If you find dia X 19” allows 4100 and X20 allows 3900 X21 3800 but the engine spec is 3900 then 19 is under and 21 is over proped this can be deliberate as flat out speed is not the most important criteria fuel consumption or acceleration may be more so
Using the car analogy the 19 is 4th gear 20 is 5th and 21an overdrive
You might find that using the 19 would allow you to accelerate but if you used down hill you might be able to maintain speed that you would not reach otherwise
Under propping is more common over propping is usually used in say a river environment where there is speed restrictions
Hope this helps
